Literature Text

A man of many different faces.
Whose joy and energy,
Always filled the hearts of many
Through out the entire, modern world.

The one who always made us laugh,
Even in our dark times,
Though none could have seen
The battle he fought, deep within.

He fooled us to the very end,
So full of life and light.
The actor who gave more
Then he ever took.
Robin Williams, forever gone.

But never forgotten.
Who he was made him
Stand out from the crowd.
And yet, hour laughter
Made him become stronger
And more wild in sight.

Robin Williams, a man
Who always wanted to
Help others more then
Himself. Kind of like me.

But who could tell
What he was fighting
Deep inside, a war with depression.
A war he long fought.

Who says a man can be weak?
All of his roles, and all of his fans
Each role seemed to represent
A Part of ourselves.

From the quirky Professor Phillip Brainard.
To kindly Mrs Doubtfire.
And the carefree genie from Aladdin.
From the crazy and kind alien
Who always said Nanu Nanu.
These were but a few of his sides.

To the man we use to see.
All of these roles and many more
Showed how many beautiful sides
That he had all in one, wacky
And care-free, but kind man
He was.

A rare gentleman hidden in
The chaotic world of today.
We all loved him and admired him.
Even some wanted to be like him.

And yet no-one could know what
Demons he had inside.
That he would always fight
And stay in the light.

He was an amazing person even
At the end. When finally
He lost his battle and took
His life.  But even now

As the world grieves over
His sudden death,
And already the world seems
A little less bright.

But even so, we know
That he is now free
From this awful world.
And is free to journey
The cosmos. A genie
Now set free.

His legacy will always
Live on. His change will
Always remain.
His joy will always
Be re-discovered through film
And tv.

Robin Williams, a heart so true
That the world felt it to.
And his fans even more greatly.
A true and beautiful man

Whose spirit shone true.
To everyone who were
Blessed in his presence
And with his films.

He will live on, and forever
Remain in the hearts of all
Of those he inspired,
Including his fans, friends
And family.

His battle is now known.
And those who battle it to
Are free to open up and let others in.
I may not be one to open up
But even so, I can go on forever.

Robin Williams, a man so pure
Whose heart rang out to the millions
Of fans worldwide.
A bright light,

Now gone.
But no matter what he will
Always remain, in spirit and light.
Someone who was gone to soon,

But now forever free.
He will never be forgotten.
We love him true.

Rest in Peace dear Robin, for we will never forget.

I’m of the opinion, as a quick edit, that moving this piece to a “Free Verse” category rather than “Traditional Fixed” is prudent, if only because I don’t really see a traditional rhyming scheme here, or the rhyming is kind of all over the place. “Free Verses” pretty much allow you to get away with anything, as long as what you say has merit.

To that end, I believe it does, no doubt. I can tell you think so highly of the man through how well-described and emotional this piece is. It has that sense of eulogy, like you’re reading his last funeral rites as he’s seen off into the afterlife, or put alternatively, as he’s being “set free” as you emphasise here. You described him, his undying work ethic, his infectious mirth and so much else about the legendary Robin Williams to great effect. Kudos to you for such a heartfelt piece, keep it up. :)
